Millions of sincere Christians will not understand the Book of Revelation because of this belief…
Despite the fact that the contents of the Book of Revelation are from Jesus Christ Himself, and that He gave this to Apostle John to prepare the end time people of what is happening and will happen in the near future many sincere Christians are having the hard time to fully understand the important prophecies of this book.
They are zealous. They pray for enlightenment, but still, they don’t get it. Some professed to understand but they too are aware that what they got are sketchy and unrelated interpretations of the prophecies.
Because of this, many opted to disregard this important “guides and landmarks” telling us that we are nearing home to heaven. Worst, we let Hollywood and false prophets interpret it for us subconsciously.
“We are now in the New Testament times”
The problem is not because of the ability to comprehend things nor the zeal in finding the truth from the Bible. The problem lies in a belief that needs to be removed first so that real biblical light can come in. The keys to understanding the prophecies in the Book of Revelation are being blocked or pushed away because of this belief or common thinking.
Millions of Christians nowadays are giving less importance to the books of the Old Testament arguing that we are now living in the New Testament times. Thus, they don’t read or spend equal time with these books compare to what they do with the New Testament writings.
This is an erroneous belief. This is why many suffer from prophetical blindness and are not aware of the important events that are happening and will take place soon on a global scale. Why is that so? Because the Old Testament is the key to understand New Testament.
Old Testament, a key to the New Testament
Amazingly, God made it easy for us to understand end time events. The literal prophetic events that happened in the past are keys to understanding the future.
Let’s take for example the case of the church in Thyatira as recorded in Revelation 2, a writing from New Testament:
“Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols…”
We believe that the Bible should speak for itself. And so we need to look for a story of Jezebel in other parts of the Bible to give us more details on what God is telling us in Revelation 2:20. That story can be found in 1 Kings 17 and onwards, from the Old Testament writings.
And so we see that in order for us to fully understand the character of the end-time Jezebel, we need to look back in the literal woman Jezebel that lived and whose life was recorded in the Old Testament.
Furthermore, King Ahab and prophet Elijah were the other main characters in the story of the literal woman Jezebel. In Malachi 4, another book from the Old Testament, we read how God is sending end-time Elijah before the destruction of the wicked in the future.
“See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes.” Malachi 4:5
Again, we can see here a literal Elijah from the past (Old Testament) that God used to proclaim His judgement against Jezebel and King Ahab. But also we see in Malachi 4 that God is sending prophetic Elijah in the end times. This is another proof telling us that we need to give equal importance to both books of the Old and New Testaments.
It is not the intent of this article to explain in full details these prophetic verses, but the message is clear:
“That the Old Testament books are keys to understand the New Testament, and thus we should give equal importance to the books of the Old Testament as we do for the New Testament.”

Once Saved Always Saved clashes with Jesus’ Parable of the Unforgiving Debtor
Jesus Himself taught that if a forgiven individual (saved) does not know how to forgive others (wrong deed) then his forgiveness will be taken away (no salvation).
Jesus used a lot of Old Testament writings to explain His teachings. The apostles did the same in their writings.
Thus, as professed Christians and sincere students of the Bible, we need to remove that “gap” between the Old and New Testament. Yes, there are Old Testament ceremonies that are no longer binding to the New Testament times, but the Bible should be regarded as one.
The giving of more importance to the New Testament writings and less with the Old Testament ones is Satan’s tactic of making us blind to the important prophetic events happening in our generation.
It is the hope of this article that we can now start to fully understand God’s revelation of the end time events. It is easy, amazing, and full of surprises!
